Junko Reyes

Ceramics from a small studio on the Seto inland sea. Wood-fired, mostly tableware, all of it meant to be used.

Everything here is thrown, dried and fired in the same building, by the same pair of hands, on a schedule the kiln sets rather than I do.

The wood kiln runs four times a year. Pieces go in raw and come out marked by wherever they happened to sit in the flame, which is the reason to fire this way and also the reason nothing can be repeated exactly.
